UNIFIL (the UN Interim Force in Lebanon) says Israeli Merkava tanks deliberately rammed two of its vehicles in the southern Lebanese town of Biyyadah, causing serious damage to at least one, and that Israeli soldiers have repeatedly blocked peacekeeper movement in the area in recent days. The force also reports that since early April, Israeli troops have destroyed surveillance cameras at UNIFIL's main headquarters in Naqoura and at five other positions along the Blue Line, and yesterday sprayed paint on the pedestrian gate windows of the headquarters to obscure outward visibility. UNIFIL stated that these actions violate Israel's obligations under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and vowed its forces would remain in place and continue reporting violations to the Security Council.
