A cable fault at the Dhabeji pumping station — Karachi's primary water intake facility — has forced the shutdown of three pumps, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) warned on Sunday. The breakdown, reported at 8:45am, is expected to cause a shortfall of 75 million gallons of water per day, affecting residential and commercial areas including North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, Landhi, and Korangi. KWSC says it is coordinating with power utility K-Electric to restore the supply as quickly as possible, with full pumping operations to resume once electricity is reinstated.
