UNICEF has reported that at least 23 children have been killed and 25 injured in Sudan's North Kordofan state (a central Sudanese region where fighting has intensified around the city of Al Obeid) since late May. The most recent attack, on 24 July in the Burbur area south of Al Obeid, killed four children aged between 8 and 16. The agency warns that across all of Sudan, at least 330 children were killed or injured in just the first half of this year, and is urging all parties to the conflict — now entering its fourth year — to protect civilians and uphold international humanitarian law.
