Pakistan joined the foreign ministers of Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday in calling on Israel to "immediately fulfil its outstanding commitments" under the first phase of a US-brokered plan to end the conflict in Gaza. Meeting on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York, the eight ministers demanded the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, and a halt to ceasefire violations, while rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians or moves to alter the demographic character of occupied Palestinian territory. The joint statement also called for sustained US engagement to unblock a stalled road map that foresees Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of an International Stabilisation Force, and the assumption of governing responsibilities by a Palestinian technocratic body — steps that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has so far refused to accept under pressure from his right-wing coalition ahead of elections.
