Pakistan's Balochistan High Court has suspended the enforcement of a criminal complaint filed against Mehmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, pending a full hearing of his constitutional challenge. The case stems from a first information report (FIR) lodged at a police station in Qila Abdullah district, accusing Achakzai — who also chairs the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, a Pashtun nationalist party — of inciting hatred against a state institution and criticising the government during a public address. The court's interim order means no legal action can be taken against him on the basis of the FIR until authorities respond to the petition and proceedings continue.
