A Honduran court has dismissed fraud and money-laundering charges against former President Juan Orlando Hernández, ruling that evidence did not establish his participation in the alleged crimes. The case stemmed from the "Pandora" corruption scandal, in which officials were accused of diverting roughly $10.8 million in public funds to political campaigns between 2010 and 2013. The ruling comes after Hernández, who had been convicted in the United States in 2024 and sentenced to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking, was pardoned by President Donald Trump in December 2025 — days before Honduras held a general election — and returned to Honduras in July.
