FC Barcelona has officially signed England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United on a five-year contract, making the 25-year-old the club's first major signing of the summer. Gordon, who scored 17 goals for Newcastle this season including 10 in 12 Champions League matches, joins for a reported initial fee of around €80 million plus add-ons. At his unveiling on 29 May, Gordon surprised journalists by conducting part of his press conference in fluent Spanish, revealing he had been learning the language for years out of a childhood conviction that he would one day play for Barça.
