Kim Keon Hee, wife of impeached former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, has appealed a five-year prison sentence to the Supreme Court after a Seoul appellate court convicted her of accepting bribes — including luxury gifts — in exchange for job appointments and business favours between 2022 and 2023. The Seoul High Court had already reduced her original seven-year sentence and acquitted her on two counts, including accepting a luxury watch. The special counsel team that brought the case has also signalled it intends to petition the Supreme Court, setting the stage for a final ruling at South Korea's highest judicial authority.
