Danish veteran Michael Valgren (EF Education-EasyPost) won stage 17 of the Giro d'Italia (cycling's three-week Italian grand tour) in Andalo, attacking from a breakaway group with one kilometre to go to claim his first stage victory at a major tour. Norwegian Andreas Leknessund finished second for the third time in this year's race, with Damiano Caruso third. Overall leader Jonas Vingegaard rode comfortably in the peloton, finishing over five minutes behind and retaining a commanding advantage in the general classification ahead of the race's conclusion in Rome.
