India's navy and coast guard are searching for 22 missing crew members after the Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Ocean Winner sank approximately 700 kilometres east of Visakhapatnam (a major port city on India's southeastern coast). The vessel, carrying iron ore to Singapore, had departed Paradip port in Odisha state on Thursday before sending a distress alert; two of its 24 crew members have been rescued from life rafts with the help of a nearby vessel, MT Aisopos. The crew comprised 20 Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar, and one Bangladeshi, and the cause of the sinking remains unknown.
