Bayern Munich claimed the DFB-Pokal, Germany's national football cup, on Saturday with a commanding 3–0 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the final at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, courtesy of a second-half hat-trick from English striker Harry Kane. The result hands Bayern a domestic double and completes a remarkable treble on the season, adding the cup to the Bundesliga title and the German Super Cup.
The match was largely uneventful in the first half, but Kane broke the deadlock ten minutes after the restart. A cross from Michael Olise on the right found the unmarked England captain, who headed home to make it 1–0. Kane then struck the post before doubling the lead with 10 minutes remaining, turning neatly past defender Chema Andrés and finishing calmly into the corner. Deep into stoppage time, a handball by Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller handed Kane a penalty, which he converted to complete his hat-trick and seal the scoreline at 3–0.
The goals brought Kane's tally for the season to 61 in 51 appearances across all competitions — a figure that underlines why the 32-year-old has been central to Bayern's dominance. Notably, he scored in every round of the cup this season. For Bayern, it was a 21st DFB-Pokal title and their 14th domestic double, the first cup triumph since 2020. The club had already wrapped up the Bundesliga in April with a 16-point margin over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
The win also extended Bayern's perfect record over Stuttgart this season. Under Belgian head coach Vincent Kompany, Bayern defeated their opponents in all four encounters, including the Super Cup and both Bundesliga fixtures. For Stuttgart, who came into the final as reigning cup holders, it was a painful defeat — their fourth cup final loss in the club's history and a second consecutive failure to win the trophy.
The result cements Bayern Munich's status as Germany's dominant force and adds further lustre to what has been an exceptional individual season for Kane, who has justified his status as one of Europe's most prolific strikers since joining the Bavarian club.
