Nigeria's New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has submitted details of 355 National Assembly candidates and a presidential placeholder to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of a 2027 election registration deadline. Party chairman Agbo Major announced the achievement at a press conference in Abuja, noting it was complicated by INEC's delayed compliance with a court order that had required the commission to recognise the party's current leadership within 72 hours. The NNPP says it plans to sue INEC for N10 billion in damages, arguing the delay disrupted the party's electoral preparations, while also confirming that registration of governorship and state assembly candidates is underway ahead of an 8 August deadline.
