The European Union plans to begin disbursing a new €90 billion loan to Ukraine in the second quarter of 2025, according to EU economy commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, who made the announcement on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank spring meetings in Washington. The pledge comes as Russia launched one of its largest aerial attacks in weeks, striking civilian areas across Ukraine with nearly 700 drones and dozens of missiles, killing at least 17 people and wounding more than 100 others. The financial commitment underscores Europe's determination to sustain support for Kyiv amid growing concern that Ukraine's stocks of advanced air-defence interceptors are running dangerously low.
