Dutch cycling star Marianne Vos (38) has been forced to abandon the Vuelta Femenina (Spain's premier women's stage race) after sustaining a broken collarbone in a crash during the final kilometres of the opening stage. Despite falling into a roadside ditch on a descent, Vos remarkably rejoined the lead group and finished seventh in the uphill sprint, though scans later confirmed the injury. The withdrawal is a significant blow for Vos, who had targeted stage victories at this race and holds a joint-record six stage wins at the event alongside Demi Vollering.
