Kim Aris, son of imprisoned Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi (80), has launched a campaign demanding that the country's military junta provide evidence that his mother is still alive. Suu Kyi — a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former de facto head of government who has been held in secret, total isolation since the military coup of 2021 — was sentenced to 33 years in prison, recently reduced to just over 22 years following a customary New Year clemency decree by junta chief Min Aung Hlaing. The 'Proof of Life' campaign, organised alongside human rights group All in One Piece, highlights deep concern over Suu Kyi's health, with her son previously reporting that she suffers from heart problems and no information having been made public about her condition.
