Wang Huning, a senior member of China's Politburo Standing Committee (one of the country's most powerful decision-making bodies), met Egyptian Senate Speaker Essam El Din Ahmed Mohamed Farid in Beijing on Friday. Wang hailed President Xi Jinping's recent visit to Egypt as historic and said China is committed to implementing agreements reached between the two heads of state, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and advancing a "community with a shared future" between the two nations. Farid affirmed that Egypt, looking back on seven decades of stable bilateral ties, is eager to deepen engagement through the Belt and Road Initiative, China's vast global infrastructure and trade programme, with a focus on economy, trade, and science and technology.
