At least four children were killed and 20 others injured when the roof of a classroom caved in at a private school in Dera Ghazi Khan (a city in Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province) on Thursday. The collapse occurred while construction work was ongoing, with sand and bricks stored on top of the roof causing it to buckle under the added weight during school hours. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered an inquiry, and education officials have indicated that the school administration may face action for endangering students by conducting building works while classes were in session.
