South Korea's overseas direct investment jumped 32.3% year on year to $20.52 billion in April–June 2026, the Ministry of Finance and Economy said, extending growth that began in the third quarter of 2025. Finance and insurance drove the gain, up 33.4% to $10.48 billion, which the ministry linked to companies diversifying their global portfolios, while the information and communication sector more than tripled to $2.73 billion. The United States was the top destination, at $8.86 billion (up 53.6%), a sign of how strongly South Korean capital continues to flow abroad.
