Nigerian military forces intercepted a large cache of weapons and suspected bomb-making materials on April 16 during a stop-and-search operation near Manchok along the Kaduna–Jos highway, a key transit corridor in north-central Nigeria. Troops from Operation Enduring Peace (a military task force targeting armed groups in the region) found 569 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, high-velocity warheads, empty rifle shells, and components associated with improvised explosive devices hidden inside a commercial vehicle carrying seven passengers. The driver, Khalifa Bawa, and all occupants were detained; investigators are working to identify who supplied the weapons and where they were headed, as authorities seek to sever supply lines used by armed groups responsible for recent attacks across Kaduna, Plateau, and Bauchi states.
