Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to form a joint working group between their interior ministries, focusing on counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, cybercrime, and the prevention of illegal immigration. The agreement was reached during talks in Islamabad between Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who also met President Asif Ali Zardari. The deal marks a step toward deeper bilateral security ties, with both sides additionally agreeing to boost cooperation between their national police training institutions and to facilitate legal migration and tourism channels between the two countries.
