US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 174 recipients of the DACA programme (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which shields undocumented people brought to the US as children from deportation) between January and September 2025, with a further 343 arrested over the first eleven months of the year, according to a letter from ICE's acting director Todd Lyons. The figures, shared with Illinois congresswoman Delia Ramirez, represent the clearest confirmation yet of the Trump administration's systematic targeting of so-called Dreamers — a group of roughly 533,000 people previously considered low deportation priorities. The Department of Homeland Security defended the actions, stating that DACA confers no legal status and that the majority of those arrested had criminal charges against them.
