The Philippines' southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is bringing moderate to heavy rainfall across more than 20 provinces over the coming days, with the majority of affected areas located on Luzon, the country's largest island. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that floods and landslides remain a risk, with the province of Occidental Mindoro set to experience the heaviest rains of 100–200 millimetres between Thursday and Friday. No tropical cyclones are currently active in the Philippine Area of Responsibility, though PAGASA has not ruled out the formation of a low pressure area later in the week.
