Chinese artificial intelligence startup Dark Side of the Moon (月之暗面, a Beijing-based AI company) unveiled its latest large language model, Kimi K3, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) held in Shanghai on 17 July 2026. The model features 2.8 trillion parameters, a measure of a model's scale and complexity that is widely used as a benchmark of AI capability. The release is seen as a sign that China's leading AI developers are closing the technical gap with their American counterparts.
