A UN-appointed monitor says Serbia has repeatedly failed to respond to inquiries about a contempt-of-court case transferred to Belgrade last year. Dagmara Albrecht, tasked with overseeing the case by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (the body that handles unfinished business of the former UN war crimes tribunals for the former Yugoslavia), reported that Serbia's Ministry of Justice has not replied to her numerous emails since her previous update in May. The case concerns Vojislav Seselj — leader of the Serbian Radical Party and a convicted war criminal — and four party associates accused of interfering with justice, disclosing protected witness information, and defying court orders during his 15-year trial at The Hague.
