Indian badminton player Ashmita Chaliha claimed her first BWF World Tour title on Sunday, defeating China's fourth seed Han Qian Xi 14-21, 21-14, 21-14 in the women's singles final of the Korea Masters Super 300 tournament in Asan, South Korea. The 26-year-old from Assam (a northeastern Indian state) recovered from losing the opening game to dominate the match's final two sets and complete victory in 53 minutes. The win is especially significant given that Chaliha missed much of 2024 and early 2025 recovering from knee surgery, and marks back-to-back BWF World Tour final victories for India, following Tanvi Sharma's win at the Taipei Open the previous week.
