Thousands of fans gathered in Mumbles, Swansea (a coastal village in south Wales), to pay their respects as the coffin of singer Bonnie Tyler was brought back to her part-time home following her unexpected death on 8 July in Portugal at the age of 75. The coffin, draped in the Welsh flag, was greeted with applause and a spontaneous rendition of her signature hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as crowds threw flowers onto the hearse. A public celebration of Tyler's life is planned for 17 August at Swansea Minster, with the service to be screened outdoors for those unable to attend in person, before a final procession through Skewen, the village where the singer — born Gaynor Sullivan — grew up.
