Bushra Bibi, wife of jailed former Pakistani prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Imran Khan, has been returned to Adiala jail (a high-security prison near Islamabad) after undergoing surgery for retinal detachment in her right eye at a private hospital in Rawalpindi. Jail authorities said she was transferred to hospital on Thursday evening following complaints of impaired vision, and was discharged after a one-night stay once the procedure was completed. The development adds to growing concern over the health of both Bushra Bibi, who is serving multiple prison sentences on corruption-related charges, and Imran Khan, who himself underwent an eye procedure last month and whom a UN special rapporteur has warned may be held in conditions amounting to inhuman or degrading treatment.
