Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar as part of what he called "Mission Punjab" — an alleged strategy to destabilise the AAP-governed state ahead of the 2027 assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Singh drew a parallel with a 2017 blast in Maur that occurred when the BJP-allied Akali Dal government was in power, and went further by alleging that the BJP has ties with Pakistan's ISI, which it uses to engineer unrest. The BJP has not yet responded to the allegations, but the accusations signal an intensifying political battle in Punjab, a strategically important border state in northwestern India.
