Brazil has announced a new security partnership with the United States aimed at combating the illicit flow of weapons and narcotics across their borders. Known as the DESARMA programme, the initiative will involve real-time data sharing, cargo tracking, and joint operations between Brazil's Federal Revenue Service and US Customs and Border Protection. The deal comes as Brazil revealed it seized over 1,100 illegally imported firearms in the past year, most originating from the US state of Florida and destined for criminal networks.
