A close friend and former colleague of Australian radio personality Alan Jones has acknowledged under cross-examination that he offered to counter allegations against the broadcaster before giving evidence, telling Jones in a text message: "If you need me to refute any lies, I of course will." The witness, described as sharing an "unbreakable bond" with Jones, testified he had no recollection of attending a 2008 lunch in Mosman (an affluent suburb on Sydney's lower north shore) at which one complainant alleges Jones placed his hand on his leg and genitals throughout the meal. Jones, 85, has pleaded not guilty to 20 indecent assault charges and two counts of sexual touching involving six men, with his trial continuing at the Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney.
