The European Commission announced on 1 October that it is adding more than €210 million to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), the EU's flagship programme for funding research careers, enabling over 700 additional researchers to build their careers in Europe. The money forms part of Choose Europe, an initiative aimed at making the EU a leading global destination for scientific talent, research and technological innovation. It matters because Brussels is competing internationally to attract and retain top researchers.
