Six beluga whales from Marineland of Canada (a now-closed marine park in Ontario) have been successfully transported to aquariums in the United States as part of an unprecedented international rehoming effort. Four of the whales — Sierra, Acadia, Osiris, and Lillooet — were sent to a facility in Chicago, while Bertie Botts and Frankie now reside at SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas. The animals, carried in specialised cold-water containers by truck and plane under veterinary supervision, are among a pod of 30 belugas that require new homes following the park's closure.
