The United States has designated Palestine Action — a UK-based activist group that targets Israeli-linked arms companies — as a "specially designated global terrorist" organisation, imposing financial sanctions alongside the label. The group, founded in 2020 and already banned by the British government after thousands of arrests, has focused its direct-action campaigns primarily on Elbit Systems, Israel's largest defence contractor. Co-founder Huda Ammori rejected the designation, saying the group's actions were aimed at "disrupting the Israeli war machine" and warning that the move signals a dangerous crackdown on free speech and civil liberties. The designations, which also targeted Italy-based digital collective Autistici/Inventati and transnational group Masar Badil, are part of a broader Trump administration push to label what it calls "violent far-left terrorist groups."
