The Universitair Ziekenhuis Antwerpen (UZA), a university hospital in Antwerp, has been awarded hospital of the year 2026 by ZORG Magazine, a Belgian healthcare industry publication that annually recognises excellence across ten care-sector categories. The hospital stood out for developing its own quality-of-care framework, built through focus groups with staff and patients in 2025, which places patient welfare and employee wellbeing at its centre around themes such as safety, resilience, and respect. Two other Antwerp-region organisations also received awards: GielsBos in Lille was named care organisation of the year, while Oscare in Merksem, a centre specialising in burn wound and scar aftercare, won the marketing award for its campaign 'Littekens van Goud' (Scars of Gold).
