Andhra Pradesh (a state on India's southeastern coast) will establish a large-scale genome analysis centre at the planned Quantum Valley in Amaravati, the state capital, to identify genetic causes of rare diseases and support cancer research, the state's health minister announced on 22 September 2026. The announcement came at the inauguration of a pilot genome sequencing facility at the NATCO cancer centre in Guntur, where genetic and biomarker tests will be offered free of charge to breast and lung cancer patients — services that can cost up to ₹25,000 (roughly $300) at private laboratories. The initiative is part of a broader state effort that has already screened some 26.5 million people for oral, breast, and cervical cancers, uncovering nearly 7,500 new cases, and developed four comprehensive cancer centres at a combined cost of ₹311 crore.
