Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered two additional cases against human traffickers in connection with a recent boat capsize off the Italian coast, bringing the total to seven cases filed within the FIA Gujranwala Zone. Authorities have identified 16 Pakistani nationals linked to the tragedy — 15 of whom remain missing after their vessel sank following departure from Libya — with suspects traced to districts including Gujrat, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin. The cases highlight the deadly smuggling routes used to move migrants from Pakistan through Ethiopia, Senegal, and Mauritania to Libya before attempting the Mediterranean crossing, with families paying sums upward of Rs4.3 million (approximately $15,000) to traffickers.
