India's women's cricket team made history at Lord's Cricket Ground (the sport's oldest and most storied venue, in London) on Monday, defeating England by 270 runs to become the first Indian women's side to win a Test there — and the first women's team ever to play a Test at the ground, 142 years after Lord's hosted its inaugural men's match. Spinner Sneh Rana took the final wicket to seal the win, capping a dominant all-round performance that included a debut five-wicket haul from seamer Kranti Gaud and a century from batter Yastika Bhatia — both of whom became the first women to earn places on Lord's celebrated Honours Boards. The victory, watched by a record cumulative attendance of 37,846 for a women's Test, came 50 years after India entered international women's cricket and was dedicated by the players to the pioneering generations who built the sport in the country with scarce resources and little recognition.
