As chair of the Non-Aligned Movement (a bloc of countries that formally avoid alignment with major power blocs), Museveni is under pressure to demonstrate neutrality toward both Iran, a member of the movement, and Israel, a longstanding strategic partner in defence and intelligence. Analysts say the meeting is largely symbolic — designed to paper over the embarrassment caused by his son's remarks — while also raising questions about Muhoozi's fitness to succeed his father.
