A 40-year-old man was shot dead on Friday evening in East Acton, west London, while 40 to 50 people, including children, were gathered for a memorial service, and the Metropolitan Police (London's police force) have opened a murder investigation. Officers called at 7.47pm found the man had been treated at the scene but he was pronounced dead; a postmortem will confirm the cause, and no arrests have been made. Detectives called it a "senseless act of violence" and are appealing for witnesses and any video footage from the area between 6pm and 8pm.
