The US government is set to begin refunding tariffs on Monday, following a Supreme Court ruling that struck down duties imposed by President Donald Trump under 1977 emergency powers legislation. Some 330,000 importers who paid levies on 53 million shipments will receive consolidated electronic refunds, including interest, rather than individual per-shipment reimbursements. The total sum involved stands at $166 billion, though officials say a smaller portion worth $2.9 billion still requires a separate resolution.
