Samsung Electronics announced on Thursday that it will begin construction of a second semiconductor fabrication facility — dubbed Taylor Fab 2 — at its campus in Taylor, Texas, before the end of 2026, targeting mass production by 2030. The South Korean tech giant also confirmed that its first Taylor plant (Taylor Fab 1) remains on schedule to begin operations later this year, with a gradual ramp-up of 2-nanometer chip production planned thereafter. The expansion reflects Samsung's push to secure long-term supply capacity amid growing demand from global data centre and artificial intelligence customers, with the company also fielding rising inquiries about an even more advanced 1.4-nanometer process.
