Jewish people across Britain are reporting a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents, including being spat on in the street, receiving death threats, and in one case being kidnapped, according to testimonies gathered by the BBC's Panorama programme. More than twelve Jewish individuals from different communities spoke out, including an NHS midwife, a university student, and an Israeli-born music producer living in London who was lured to a rural Welsh property under false pretences, restrained with handcuffs, and beaten before managing to escape — his three attackers were each sentenced to over eight years in prison for the abduction, with the judge noting he was targeted because of his Jewish heritage. The Community Security Trust (a UK charity that monitors antisemitism) recorded around 3,700 incidents last year — more than ten per day — while a new study by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research found that one in five British Jews is considering leaving the country, with emigration to Israel over the past twelve months reaching its highest level since the start of the century.
