The UK, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have agreed a coordinated package of measures to combat global fraud at the Five Country Ministerial meeting in Sydney, where Five Eyes (the long-standing intelligence-sharing alliance among the five English-speaking democracies) partners endorsed UK-led proposals for faster cross-border intelligence sharing, joint disruption of scam operations and closer collaboration with telecommunications, technology and financial industry players. The agreement also includes enhanced backing for the INTERPOL Global Fraud Taskforce, which will map organised criminal networks and support international enforcement operations. The initiative is significant given that online fraud has become one of the world's fastest-growing crimes, with organised groups increasingly exploiting digital platforms and financial systems across national borders; the UK alone has committed £250 million through its new Fraud Strategy to bolster law enforcement and victim support.
