Spanish actor Javier Bardem was honoured in Los Angeles on 16 June with a permanent place in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, one of cinema's most iconic landmarks. The Academy Award winner joined a long list of celebrated figures by pressing his hands and feet into wet cement — and then added a personal twist that no one before him had attempted: he also pressed his nose into the slab, marking a first in the venue's storied history.

The TCL Chinese Theatre forecourt, located on Hollywood Boulevard, has been home to the handprints and footprints of major film stars since the 1920s. Being invited to leave an impression there is widely regarded as one of the most visible symbols of recognition in the entertainment industry. Speaking at the ceremony, Bardem described the moment as humbling and said he found it hard to believe he was joining so many figures he had long admired.

In his remarks, Bardem gave particular thanks to his wife, fellow Spanish actress Penélope Cruz, and their two children, Leo and Luna, crediting their support as central to his artistic life. The ceremony reflected a career that has unfolded over more than three decades, beginning in Spanish cinema before expanding into major international productions. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the chilling villain Anton Chigurh in the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men (2007).

The honour comes at a busy point in Bardem's career. He has recently appeared in the television series Cape Fear and the film F1: The Movie. Looking ahead, he is set to feature in The Beloved, due for release in Spain in August 2026, as well as Dune: Part Three, expected in cinemas in December of the same year.

The noseprint aside, the ceremony was a conventional but deeply symbolic affair — a reminder that Bardem, who began his career far from Hollywood, has firmly established himself among the most recognised actors working in international cinema today.
