FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that United States President Donald Trump will stand alongside him on stage to present the trophy at the 2025 FIFA World Cup final, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

"We will be together with the president, enjoying the final, and handing the trophy to the winner – of course, together," Infantino said in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday. When pressed to confirm the joint presentation, he added: "Of course. We are together all the time."

The announcement marks a continuation of the close relationship between the two figures during this World Cup cycle. Trump took part in a similar ceremony at last year's FIFA Club World Cup final, held at the same New Jersey venue, when Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3–0. He remained on stage as Chelsea's players lifted the trophy, and the trophy was later photographed in the Oval Office — with Chelsea reportedly receiving a replica in its place.

Despite his planned role at the finale, Trump has not attended a single match at this year's World Cup, which the United States is co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico. He was notably absent from both US national team matches, including their group-stage games against Paraguay and Australia. Infantino, by contrast, has been attending up to two matches per day, according to reports citing FIFA sources.

The decision to involve a sitting head of state so directly in football's highest-profile ceremony is likely to draw attention.
