Spain's Ministry of Health has published a formal report concluding that homeopathy produces no results beyond a placebo effect and that relying on it instead of proven treatments can pose a genuine risk to patients' health. The document, which reviewed clinical trials conducted between 2009 and 2026, carries no legal force — homeopathic products remain legal and on sale in Spanish pharmacies, generating over €30 million in 2023 — but represents an official government warning that the practice lacks scientific backing. Health Minister Mónica García stated bluntly that the findings show homeopathy "does not work better than a placebo," adding that the real danger lies not in what patients take but in the proven treatments they may abandon in its favour.
