The military tribunal trial over the 2023 murder of Cameroonian radio journalist Martinez Zogo resumed in Yaoundé on 21 April, but proceedings were quickly suspended after defence lawyers demanded access to expert reports before cross-examining the first witness. Cybersecurity expert Georges Bell Bitjoka, whose analysis of suspects' phones reportedly led to several arrests, was unable to testify at length after the defence argued it was improper to question him without first reviewing the more than 1,000 pages of expert documentation. The presiding judge adjourned the case to 11–12 May, ordering that all parties obtain copies of the reports at their own expense — a delay that lawyers for the victim's family accepted, while the attorney representing key accused Maxime Eko Eko (former head of Cameroon's external intelligence agency, the DGRE) warned the trial was dragging on too long with defendants still in detention.
