Dutch author Mensje van Keulen has been chosen to write the Boekenweekgeschenk (the traditional free book given to customers during the Netherlands' annual Book Week) for March 2027, organisers CPNB announced. The theme of the week will be 'Kijk ons nou' ('Look at us now'), drawing a parallel between reading fiction and people-watching. Van Keulen, who debuted in 1972 and won the Constantijn Huygensprijs lifetime achievement award in 2014, is described by CPNB as a 'literary icon'; columnist and author Japke-d Bouma will separately write the week's themed companion volume.
