India's Election Commission has launched the commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) ahead of the first phase of assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The process took place in the presence of candidates or their authorised representatives, as well as official General Observers appointed to oversee electoral integrity. The deployment marks a key logistical milestone in preparing for two of India's most politically significant state elections.
