A police officer from the small central Texas town of Santa Anna has been arrested at the US-Mexico border after Mexican authorities accused him of killing three people and critically wounding the mother of his child in a dispute over their son. Chad Eberle, 35, was intercepted on Wednesday while attempting to cross into Texas at the international bridge at Piedras Negras — across from Eagle Pass — and has since been transferred to a men's penitentiary in Saltillo, the capital of Coahuila state (a northern Mexican state bordering Texas). According to Coahuila's attorney general, the July shooting in Saltillo left two women and one man dead and stemmed from a dispute over Eberle allegedly taking his three-year-old son without permission; the child was found unharmed and placed in the care of local child welfare authorities.
